I am not sure if it is a product of being 57. or not having been happy most my life, or having a career I love but I expect something neat to happen every day.  Most of the time I am right!  It is not always a big thing, but generally something happens every day that makes being alive a very nice thing.  Of course the key is setting a reasonable standard.  The expectation can’t be to play center field for the Tigers, but it may be making just one fabulous catch in a senior league game that you know will make you smile for years.

Most of my wonderful surprises are drawing something and having someone respond that it made them feel something.  The nice thing about the surprises is that you don’t need to look for them.  All you have to do is be aware and then grateful.
