Actually having constitutional rights for a brief period of time, and then losing them wholesale is difficult.  It is difficult to feel like a true citizen when my rights vary from one presidential term to another.  I am not about to suggest it would have been better not to ever have been seen as a “real American (or more accurately a “real person”),” but it certainly is a terrible tease to have all my rights be so very transitory.
