It is astonishing to hear people that have the “Make America Great Again” hats on brag about the economy.  It is not that it is unimportant, but can it be the entirety of how we measure ourselves?

It makes sense I suppose that people that measure their worth in wealth would do so with others.  But the short-sighted nature of it is tragic.  In the end how wealthy we are will not matter if we cannot live with each other.

And the rest of the world when it used to admire us did not center their respect upon our wealth.  We once were more than that.
